| Chris Kreider celebrating eventual game-winner |
The New York Rangers are headed
to game 7. Who’s excited? Last night they beat the Ottawa Senators
3-2 to keep themselves in the playoffs.
Derek Stephan scored the Rangers
first goal in the 2nd period to tie the game and was followed up by Brad
Richards and rookie Chris Kreider.
The goal was the first of
Kreider's professional career. He won the college National championship
with Boston College earlier this month and joined the Rangers in game 3
replacing Hagelin. Teammates as well as Head Coach Tortorella say they
are impressed by his play.
The scoring in the second period
last night finally broke the 6 period shut out that began in game 4.
The Rangers will face Ottawa at
home on Thursday and history is their favor. They are 3-0 in game 7s
played at home, including the year they won the Stanley Cup.
"Our thought is to win
it," Rangers coach John Tortorella said Tuesday during a conference call.
"As far as there not being a Game 7 at Madison Square since 1994, it
doesn't affect anything we do. We're going into a Game 7 with an opportunity to
win the hockey game. That's all we're concerned about."
We have faith. Let’s go
Blueshirts…
